"Remove the veil, reveal thyself, and the mystery will unfold"
My work is mapping life’s journey as viewed from above. My passion for printmaking has released me into a world of the unknown translated through the integration of traditional etching and lithographic processes, which I have combined with innovative non toxic techniques such as monotype, collagraphy, digital imagery and photographic transfers.
My deep interest in the mystical and spiritual realms permeates my work. Although, I feel small and almost invisible, my art touches people emotionally and spiritually. Crossings mark my destiny and imprint my life path. I present the random interconnectedness and mystery which permeates existence. Cosmic archetypal symbols, as can be currently seen in Lunar Cycle Series, Monarch Crossings, Aleph and Quilt, has taken a significant role in the past few years, creating intricate patterns carrying vibrations of numerical significance, stemming from my mystical studies in Kabbalah and Numerology.
Can we live with the forces of Creation?
My search for balance is reflected in an intuitive gestural language of color playing against a background of organized geometric structures. Veils of light, emanating through layers of transparent colors and collaged fragments of fine printed Japanese papers, shroud the work in a cloud of mystery.
I have been exhibiting nationally and internationally since the seventies. Originally from Santiago, Chile, I moved to Montreal, Canada in 1970, where I earned a degree in Fine Arts and Art Education. I have worked since then as an artist (printmaker/painter) and educator, both in Canada, and presently in California, where I moved in 1998.
In 1998 Equinox Press was born out of the need for a printmaking and cultural facility in this community, offering a place for artists to learn, create and exchange ideas. Equinox Press is a private printmaking studio integrating traditional printmaking disciplines with the latest non toxic and innovative technological processes. I currently work and teach at Equinox Press, in Carmel, California, where I moved in 2004, as well as at Monterey Peninsula College, in Monterey. |
